Fall Out Boy
Marisa DiLemme
Harrison, New York may not be the most exciting place to live, but as teenagers, we make it our job to find different ways to have fun. After playing out the movies, the mall, hanging out at a friends, it is difficult to find other ways to keep us occupied. However, there is another way to liven up the weekend. Over the Holiday Break, I was fortunate enough to attend a Fall Out Boy concert at Webster Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut. That night I realized that there is no better way to spend a night with your friends than at a show, just hanging out and having fun listening to your favorite band play. Of course, the show does not necessarily have to be Fall Out Boy, but for me that just makes the night even more amazing.
Fall Out Boy, which formed in Chicago, Illinois in 2000, includes Pete Wentz, Andy Hurley, Patrick Stump, and Joseph Trohman. Besides the fact that they are four of the sweetest people alive, these four guys are extremely talented and definitely know how to energize the crowd. First, there is Joe, who is blessed with the ability to spin ridiculously fast with his guitar, yet still play without any hesitation. Then, there is Pete on bass, coming down to the crowd, subjecting himself to the chaos of the screaming fans. While all of this is happening, Patrick stays impressively focused, hitting all the high notes and looking extremely adorable. And of course, there is Andy, although sometimes its hard to see him when he is playing, as he often gets lost in that massive blob that is his hair. After performing an amazing set, which included the best Christmas song ever, Yule Shoot Your Eye Out, the fans rushed to the merch table to buy quality merch from Jordan and meet the band members, who often hang out there so they can talk to their fans.
Of course watching the performance is amazing, but honestly, the best part of the whole show is getting to meet Pete, Andy, Joe, and Patrick. It so refreshing that there are still some bands out there who are down to earth and will take the time to talk to the fans who adore them. I am already counting down the days until the next Fall Out Boy show on February 28th at Irving Plaza. This show is already sold out, but since Fall Out Boy always tries to keep their fans happy and therefore never stop touring, it is only a matter of time until the next show. Come on out, its a guaranteed good time! And even if you cant, I definitely recommend picking up the Fall Out Boy album Take This to Your Grave because once you put it on, itll be torture to turn it off. the HOB show was absolutely bad ass. i saw them at all their so cal
show dates, and the one in ventura. and by far, they played the best
at the HOB. not to say that the rest of the shows werent awesome as
well, but HOB is also really small and that added to it. anyways,
well now gotta wait for warped tour to see them again. =(
hate and love,
aaron
For anyone who wants to know..last nights show in sacramento kicked
ass.
Dynamite Boy was decent for an opener, good catchy music.
Fall Out Boy was simply amazing, they played:
tell mick
dead on arrival
grand theft autumn
saturday
homesick at space camp
chicago is so two years ago
grenade jumper
calm before storm
patron saints
opened with tell mick and closed with saturday for anyone that would
like to know...
Mest was decent, but nowhere near as much energy as fall out boy, so
that made their
performace seem much worse than it really was.

I got the AP magazine with YC on the cover because it had FOB in it
they completely fucked up on their info.. " How they sound: Packed
with tight tempos harmonies , FallOut Boy's debut proves that pop-
punk can still be relevant and creative. Andy Hurley's drumming is
tighter than that rich uncle who buys your birthday gifts at Big
Lots, and Patrick Strump's vocals reflect exuberance where most
vocalists in the genere are still drowning in adolescent woes. FOB-
rounded out by guitarist Andrew Hurley and bassist Pete Wentz - are
the perfect soundtrack for your next Red Bull-induced pogo-fest" okay
first Patrick Strumph...? its Stump at least thats what it says on
the CD.... and is Joe dead?? Andy plays drums and as far as I know
there is no other Andrew in FOB that plays guitar? you can't leave
out Joe thats just mean so ya AP sucks |
